Fencing Project Description
Supply and Install close-spaced mesh fencing around the perimeter of the substation facility to prevent unauthorised access to the high voltage yard under construction. All fencing materials were manufactured by Australian Security Fencing Pty Ltd. Bluedog made extensive use of its proprietary fence post setting systems to accelerate the fence installation process.
Specific Challenges of the Fencing
- Some 20 fence posts had to be custom designed by Bluedog to be installed behind the retaining wall area. This involved the fabrication of an elbow in the fence post (see top photo) and the use of mounting plates on the posts to allow the fence post to be affixed to the back of the retaining wall with chemical anchors.
- Integrating the fence installation with other phases in the construction.
- Avoiding extensive and newly laid underground services.
- The addition of a hydrant booster enclosure to the fencing scope well into the project.
