Length: 900m
Completion Date: September 2010
Project Description
Bluedog was contracted to manufacture and install ‘partial barrier’ cycleway fencing to prevent cyclists from leaving the path alongside hazardous areas like a culvert or steep embankment.
Project Specific Challenges & Innovations
• Bluedog developed a cost effective ‘bump’ rail system to navigate gradual curves in the path without the need for expensive custom joints or bends to change direction.
• Given Austroads requirements where only identified late in the project construction phase Bluedog worked to an extremely tight time frame for manufacture of the materials.
Added Value
The project’s original design by the client did not include allowance for cycleway fencing complaint with Austroads Standard AGRD06A/09 Guide to Road Design Part 6A: Pedestrian and Cyclist Paths. Bluedog provided the client and its consultants with considerable assistance, during contract negotiations, to develop a specification and scope of works for the project.
