Public Pool Security Fencing: Adelaide
Client: City of Tea Tree Gully
Fence Type: Crushed spear security fencing (2100mm high) with a concrete mowstrip. The fence design included tighter and heavier pickets to ensure security.
Fencing Project Description
Bluedog was contracted to design and construct a 'pool safe' security fence which was compliant with AS 1926 and also met the council’s specific security and functional requirements.

NEW STANDARD ADOPTED 1 MAY 2010 - The 2007 versions of the Australian Standard, parts 1 & 2 were adopted on 1 May 2010. AS 1926.1:2007 requires a boundary fence, if used as part of the child safety barrier, to be at least 1.8 metres high on the pool side, with a 900mm non-climbable zone located at the top on the pool side of the fencing.
Specific Challenges of the Fencing
- Testing of panels and gates for certification to AS 1926 – Appendix A Strength and rigidity.
- Considerable civil construction incl. concrete anti-tunnelling plinth under the fence.
