DECS School Security Fencing Program: Adelaide
Client: DTEI acting as Facility Managers for DECS
Fencing Type: DECS School Security Fencing Specification (2100mm high), powdercoated gloss black.
Fencing Project Description
In late December 2007 Bluedog Fences was contracted to supply and install tubular security fencing and gates at 11 schools throughout Adelaide. This involved the manufacture and installation of some 5,500 metres of security fencing over an 18 week period at Salisbury East, Craigmore, Aberfoyle, Hallet Cove, and Freemont Elizabeth.
In December 2009, Bluedog was contracted to supply and install school security fencing at Golden Grove, Woodville, Gawler East, Direk, Flaxmill and Hallet Cove.
Specific Challenges of the Fencing
- Adelaide’s highly reactive soils meant that all gates included a strip footing joining the posts to prevent lateral movement affecting gate operation.
- Aberfoyle Park High School was fenced using a custom 2400mm high 3-rail design.
- DECS’ proposed design for letterboxes did not meet Australia Post or functional requirements. Bluedog worked with a local supplier to develop an aesthetically pleasing, secure, anti-climb letterbox solution that met all requirements.
