The article states:

'SECURITY fences at northern schools have successfully shut out vandals, with teachers and police reporting up to a 90 per cent drop in incidents of property damage.

'Elizabeth Vale Primary principal Grant Small said a fence installed at the school last year had virtually wiped out vandalism, reducing the annual damage bill from more than $150,000 to "next to nothing".

"There was extensive graffiti, theft and vandalism that would happen every weekend," he said. "What it meant was the community couldn’t develop their pride in the school. After the fence went up, there was a dramatic instant drop in terms of the vandalism."
