Essential Energy zone substation in Coonamble secured (8-Jul-12)
On Wednesday 27 June 2012 we successfully handed over the high security mesh fencing installation around Essential Energy’s Coonamble Zone Substation. The site was the fourth in a package of work with the other security fencing installed at Wee Waa, Dubbo and Coonabarabran. The project included the supply and installation of 240 metres of Bluedog GuardForce 358 welded mesh (anti-climb) fencing system with a 550mm concertina barb tape topping, 3 fibreglass isolation panels (3 metre high mesh, anti-climb, serrated topping and anti dig with a non conductive asphalt mowstrip) and one 6 metre double gate with new concrete driveway.
Included in the 358 mesh fencing works was:
- The demolition and removal of 120 metres of 400mm high dilapidated brick retaining wall including spoil and 240 metres of existing Chainwire fencing.
- Replacing the old wall, we designed and installed a new 600mm high (200mm embedment), concrete, steel reinforced, retaining wall.
- A standard 300mm x 300mm concrete, poly fibre reinforced mow strip was installed under the balance of the perimeter.
- A new internal earth grading ring was also installed which included the excavation, laying of copper cable, backfill, compaction and spreading of new 20mm blue metal.
Given the huge amounts rainfall during construction, making onsite conditions very difficult at times, we did well getting the project finished before the new financial year and on time.
Thankyou to all the helpful Coonamble locals who made our stay more enjoyable.
