This week the Townsville Bulletin ran an article titled "Schools new fence to keep troublemakers out". The article reported on the installation of a Bluedog SecuraTop® QLD school security fence and gate system to the perimeter of Aikenvale School to "keep thieves, vandals and trespassers out". The school principal is quoted as saying "“By keeping out unwanted visitors, it allows us to focus on the school’s curriculum and learning, rather than maintenance issues,” Mr Burgess said. “It also gives us the opportunity to really improve our school grounds, especially its gardens, without any worries it will be damaged.” The erection of the security fence around the school was a response to a relative increase in trespassing, theft and vandalism in the recent months. The powder coated tubular steel fencing supplied is manufactured wholly in-house by Bluedog in Australia and is compliant with the DETA school security fencing specification.
