In September 2017, the South Australian Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) released a request for tender for the Supply and Installation of Pedestrian Safety Fencing for Adelaide Oval number 2.

The main challenges involved in the project were:

• The design, manufacture and install of a refined and functional removable fence system;
• The manufacture and install of some 250 metres of fencing and gates in a period of 6 weeks from order; and
• Managing pedestrian movement safely around the work area during the installation phase.

Bluedog was able to demonstrate in our tender submission that we have previously developed a well refined removable fence system and strong systems to manage pedestrian safety. We were able to indicate that we had the steel raw material in stock from Orrcon Steel and Tube and that our wholly in-house manufacturing and powder capacity would enable us to meet the desired practical completion date.

More generally our value propositions to DPTI were:

• Previous experience with supplying removable steel picket fencing including sections of removable steel picket fencing designed, manufactured and installed for City of Holdfast Bay (Gliderol Stadium) and City of Charles Sturt (Woodville Oval).
• The ability to commence works in four weeks of order using stock in-hand in our Adelaide warehouse and accelerated production of balance of materials.
• The use of GalvaBond® precision tube sourced from Orrcon Steel’s O’Sullivan’s Beach tube mill.
• A 100% Australian made product from Bluedog with the fabrication and powder coating all under the one roof to control quality and manufacture timeframes.
• The use of the highest zinc coated steel available hat has a Z275 g/m2 combined coating mass on the internal and external surfaces.
• A 7 stage chemical metal pre-treatment process (including two heated degreasing stages) to prepare the metal materials for enhanced powder adhesion and corrosion protection as compared to some suppliers that manually wipe down with a solvent.
• A 10 year colour fastness warranty.
