Security measures reduce cost of vandalism in South Australian public schools to under $2m in 2016

“Of all our public buildings, schools are perhaps among the most open and inviting locations, but that can sometimes make them vulnerable to vandalism — particularly when they are not in operation,” Dr Close said.“While (the) figures are pleasing, obviously I would like to have no vandalism at all in our schools.“The money the State Government spends on cleaning up the work of vandals could be redirected to help fund infrastructure projects that would directly benefit students and school communities.” Vandalism costs at Seaton High School fell 95 per cent last year after a security fence was erected. File picture: Josie Hayden
